I do not agree

One Man's Web > Debate I do not agree

Well, S. and I just have to agree to differ on this area...

I recently visited your website having previously done so.  What attracted
my attention was the religious theme, in particular the so called
reactionary view you ascribe to certain people in the Uniting Church of
Australia.  No doubt if I were in Australia I would support this group as I
have seen too much so called liberalism and how it wrecks churches.  To
define further what I am saying, I note a retreat from the basic message of
Jesus' love to people and substituting a liberal political agenda and
calling it Christianity. It ends up as an anything goes type of
Christianity.  No doubt this movement you seem strongly to loathe is
combating this.  I grew up in a liberal "Christian" environment and I
developed a warped view of Christianity.  I was presented a view that
pushed this type of agenda.  Although supposedly liberal, I found it
illiberal as a person was supposed to accept only this view and say how
"reactionary" conservative and awful an evangelical approach is and how it
is supposedly from the dark ages.  Therefore I applaud efforts to restore a
church to it's evangelical roots.  I came across a movement in the United
States known as the United Methodist Confessing Movement.  It is attempting
with some success to restore evangelicalism to this denomination.  I note
this movement is increasing in size and strength.  It is a part of
Methodism that is growing while liberal Methodists find their churches
shrinking.  Also their is reaction to feminism, worship of the goddess and
Wicca.  The type of feminism represented is victim feminism.  In it's
extreme, it represents a man-hating, lesbian type of feminism that
downplays the role of men and fathers in the life of children.

I want to cite a story, then I will close.  Two ladies from Africa visited
a United Methodist Women's Conference at a Conference Center.  They
enthusiastically told of their love of Jesus Christ and how he changed
their lives.  One of them was a lesbian and his love changed this for her.
Of course the liberals were shocked.  They envisioned something else was
going to come from these ladies.  They weren't very popular amongst others
and were largely ignored.  In my own denomination, Anglicanism, I am
literally thrilled how African and Asian Anglicans held sway with not
accepting the politically correct attitude of thinking of homosexuality as a
mere sexual alternative.  This was at the Lambeth Conference last
September.  By a very large margin, their views were upheld there.

I must say that although we must love people with a homosexual orientation,
we must realize they are in a tragic situation that has serious
consequences such as STD, promiscuity and a myriad host of other problems.
But although difficult, changes can be made.  Psychologists such as those
in the American Psychological Association don't want to have us believe
this, but it can happen.  The decision to take homosexuality out of the
DSMIII was a highly politically one and does not necessarily accept
reality.  Now the DSMIV is attempting to normalize paedophilia.  I must
close as it is night here and day where you are so good day.
