Day One: Hallet
On day one I have arrived at Hallett, 175km from home. Road temperatures peaked at 42.4 degrees and seemed to be over 38 for most of the day from 11am onwards. Road speed of 19.5km/hr and around 10 hours all up. I took the new Stuart O’Grady bike path to Gawler which is a very nice ride. Tonight I am camped in the old Hallett Railway station, which has Spartan accommodation for backpackers... but don’t drink the water, which is not so helpful. Tomorrow is Manna Hill, or maybe Olary. Apparently it will be hotter again. I may start while it’s dark... if I can find some water here in the dark! Bike’s good, I’m tired! (27 Feb)
Basic, but it will do!
